BICs has long recommended the use of colour-coded cleaning and janitorial equipment within the cleaning and hygiene industry. Although legislation exists regulating processes and practices in food preparation in order to help prevent cross-contamination, only good practice working serves to do the same in when it comes to cleaning and hygiene.
Putting into place a colour-coding system for cleaning and janitorial equipment has many benefits, predominantly in reducing the spread of cross- contamination, which would likely occur if a cloth initially used in the washroom was then used in a food preparation area. A colour coding system also makes life much easier for cleaning staff who have clear guidelines to follow, in knowing which equipment can safely be used where. reduces the risk of cross-contamination. It can also make life easier for cleaning operatives. See our colour coding guidance for more details
In a bid to get an enhanced and improved use of colour-coding throughout the cleaning industry and whenever cleaning takes place BICs have launched the #ColourCodingForCleaningAndHygiene movement.
