Leading skincare manufacturer SC Johnson has identified eight key “moments” when the risk of spreading infection in the workplace and public facilities is particularly high. In addition to regular sanitising and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, they advise that people working in or visiting these places can greatly help reduce the risk of spreading infection by sanitising or washing these key moments and as a result prevent further transmission of the infection.

The 8 Moments

What are the eight key moments?

When entering or leaving a building or facility
After using the toilet
Before and after touching common surfaces, such as door handles
Before food preparation
Before eating food
Before and after moving from a workstation
After coughing, sneezing or nose blowing
After handling or disposing of waste

A full explanation of the importance of these moments, how infection transmission takes place, and a detailed guide to prevention can be found in SC Johnson’s guide here.
