As an long term employer located within the small market town of Southam in Warwickshire we recognise our responsibility to the local community, from which the majority of our staff are drawn. We have long supported community ventures and are pleased to announce our recent kit sponsorship of the Southam United FC junior girls teams for the 2021/22 season and beyond.
Apart from a general affection for football among our employees, there is a direct connection with the team, as the daughter of one of employees plays for one the girls teams and his niece is head of the girls Section at the club.
Southam United FC has a long history in the Southam community. The team was originally founded in 1905 following the amalgamation of two village teams and continued in this form until 2001, when it merged with Southam Town FC, a progressive junior club formed in 1972 which, amongst other things, helped to pioneer ladies and girls football in Warwickshire.
The club is designated an FA Charter Standard Community Club. This is a designation open to all grassroots clubs who follow Football Association's charter standard, designed to raise standards in the grassroots game through supporting the development of clubs and leagues and to recognise and reward commitment, quality and achievement.
The club is particularly proud of its community associations and has recently launched the Southam United Community Foundation to provide innovative and creative sports and education programmes to the local community. This includes community use of the newly redeveloped ground.
We wish the girls teams every success for the new season!
